Vulnerability Assessments

Syntax, Inc. has a unique approach to vulnerability assessments. Rather than provide a single, exhaustive analysis, we tailor our assessments to the level of the customer’s needs. This significantly reduces the cost compared with traditional vulnerability assessments. Our belief is there are core areas that should be addressed in an assessment, but the exhaustive assessment some security firms provide is neither necessary, nor particularly helpful.
Our methodology is to meet with our customers, review their industry and infrastructure, and then suggest an appropriate assessment. Customers receive a concise report with our findings along with a clear roadmap for remediation.

A typical assessment includes:
Internet probe to assess the current perimeter security and determine which resources are externally accessible.

Comprehensive internal scan to:

» Inventory workstations, servers and other resources
» Uncover potential vulnerabilities such as open shares or opportunistic services
» Expose weak passwords or questionable user accounts
» Determine whether critical patches are missing
» Reveal compromised systems

Research to determine if your company is “listed” with hackers, linked to other sites or associated in a negative context.
